Peter M. Kersten looks back on a lifetime in music. Twenty-five years ago, he co-founded Dial Records, followed by the Hamburg-based record store and label Smallville. Under his alias Lawrence, he has produced a wide range of music spanning ambient, deep house, and beyond, with recent releases on Giegling, Mule Musiq, and Smallville. After a brief excursion into the art world as co-owner of Mathew Gallery (2011–2017), Kersten has since devoted himself fully to live performance and music production. The City of Tomorrow is his ongoing series of miniatures, ambient pieces, and acoustic songs dedicated to his neighbourhood, the modernist Hansaviertel in Berlin.
